MORALE

twa_guide_morale_en.jpg
morale 1.jpg
The current value of your morale. This value is used to decide what Morale State your unit is currently in (Morale State being Routing, Wavering, Confident, etc.). For example, once your Current Morale is 0 or lower, your unit is routing. Once it's above your unit's Inherent Morale value, your unit is Confident. The value changes based on your unit's Target Morale Value.
morale 2.jpg
The morale value your unit starts with at the beginning of the battle. It's defined per unit so every unit can have a different Inherent Morale. It is possible to increase this morale, in fact that's how you enter the Confident state. When there are no Morale Effects applied to your unit, your Morale Target value and Current Morale should match this Inherent Morale value.
morale 3.jpg
The key to the whole morale system. The unit's Target Morale value is usually of the same value as your unit's Inherent Morale, but shifts when a Morale Effect is applied to your unit. Your unit's Current Morale will always be moving towards this value, but the Target Morale value changes instantly when a Morale Effect is applied. Your Current Morale will go down much faster than it will go back up again. Current Morale will also change faster when the difference between the Current Morale and Target Morale value is greater.

TIPS and TACTICS

The lower the unit’s morale, the heavier the losses it sustains from melee attacks and missile fire. The unit’s morale decreases significantly when flanked or successfully attacked from behind.
When Commanders are killed on the battlefield, the morale of their units is decreased.
When engaging the enemy with one unit, try to outflank or approach them from the rear with your other units. This way you will demoralize the enemy units and gain the desired advantage in battle.
The above tactics work the other way around—when under attack, try to position your units to prevent being flanked.
